Not only is this Halloween decoration easy, it’s very inexpensive! Use paint that you have at home, and grab some accessories (like the stick on jewels we used) from the dollar store and your set. A real pumpkin from a pumpkin patch, or grocery store and that’s all! Paint varying sizes of pumpkin and arrange them together to create a full fall porch decor idea. The little pie pumpkins look super cute alone or with a larger one. Let’s get into what you’ll need for this fun craft!

Materials:

• Real pumpkin
• Acrylic Paint
• Painters tape
• Jewel stickers
• Paint brushes

Firstly, apply the painters tape in vertical lines. Follow the natural grooves in your pumpkin.

Secondly, paint your pumpkin. Let the pumpkin dry between coats. You may need multiple coats, depending on the colour you choose (light colours will need more). Set aside to dry completely.

Once the pumpkin paint is dry, carefully remove the tape. Then add the stick on jewels where the tape was.

DIY back to school Jars

What You’ll Need:

• Empty jars with the labels removed
• Wooden candle stands
• Acrylic paint 
• Paint brush
• E6000 glue
• Letter and number stickers

Firstly, paint the wooden candle holders in primary colours.

Don’t forget to paint the lids! These will need a couple of coats and be sure to let each coat dry fully.

Secondly, add stickers to the jars for a touch of fun!

Back to the macaroons…these little snacks are easy to make and the ingredient list is not scary.  They are quick to whip up for work snacks, office parties or family get togethers…and for at home snacking ? .  The pumpkin seed on the top are optional but look oh so cute.  Considered putting some orange food colouring into the mix to make them even more pumpkin-y or placing some candy eyes on them to give the kids a giggle.  

Let’s get to the recipe now!

Pumpkin Macaroons

Tasty, cute and easy to make. These Pumpkin Macaroons won't disappoint and are perfect for any occasion. Whip up a batch today and see for yourself! 

Ingredients

• 1/3 cup sugar
• 1 egg white
• 1 1/2 cups shredded coconut
• 1/4 cup crushed praline peanuts
• 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
• 3/4 tsp pumpkin spice
• 1/8 tsp cinnamon sugar
• 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

• Preheat your oven to 350 F.  
• In a large bowl, whisk the egg white until fluffy adding the sugar in slowly. 
• Add the coconut, and the rest of the ingredients into the sugar/egg mixture and stir them until well blended.
• Roll the mixture into balls (about 1 1/2 inch) and place them onto the cookie sheet
• Place one pumpkin seed into the the top of each ball (to create a stem)
• Bake them for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Make these bite size pumpkin macaroons for any occasion and they won’t disappoint.

It’s October…and its already snowed here in Calgary. Thankfully it only came in for one day and has now melted but it still marked the end of the flowers I had on my front porch. They are both officially dead – RIP my fall chrysanthemums.  

Now I’ve been brainstorming about how to use my two planters. I needed something quick and ideally on the cheap. I headed to the craft store and wandered around a bit. Luckily everything fall is on clearance now because in retail, its Christmas time. I found a couple of leaf garlands for cheap and then picked up some embroidery hoops. My plan was to make a circle from the hoops and cover them in the garland to make a topiary ball.

It did not look good.

That’s okay, it happens in DIY sometimes. Back to the drawing board and I redesigned the look by covering the hoops in burlap ribbon and letting them show instead of covering them up. I’m quite happy with my second attempt. ? It’s a good lesson to not get discouraged if something not quite working. Tweak a couple things and hang in there, it’ll work out in the end!

What You’ll Need:

• Embroidery hoops
• Leaf garland
• Hot glue gun and sticks
• Scissors
• Ribbon

Cover both the inner and outer hoop with the ribbon. Glue along the way to hold the ribbon in place.

Place the smaller hoop inside the larger one and glue them together to create a ball.

Add leaves from the garland in the bottom of the circle and secure with some glue. Cut some individual leaf from the garland and glue to the hoop decoratively around the top and sides of the ball.

My finished topiary’s are sitting on my planters to replace my sadly dead plants. I made a second ball in a larger size to go onto the larger planter. Need some more fall décor? Check out our String Art Leaf in Autumn Colours.

What You’ll Need:

• • Wreath base (preferably cardboard or wood over wire. It’ll be easier to attach the leaves to)
  • Glitter paper (scrapbook paper is perfect)
  • Template – get it here
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and sticks
  • Ribbon

Print out template and use it to trace the pattern onto the back of the glitter paper. You’ll need to trace about 30 leaves in a variety of colours and then cut out all the leaves.

Attach a length of ribbon for hanging to the wreath base. Glue the leaves onto the wreath base, alternating the colours. Be sure to overlap the leaves on top of the ribbon to cover it.
