This macrame wall hanging is very simple and uses a popular, easy technique.  The type of macrame knot used in this pattern is called a Square Knot. The key to this macrame knot is to use four strands of rope, or eight when using double strands.  This one knot technique will give you a beautiful macrame design.

Not only is a macrame wall hanging fun to create, will fit most home decor styles.  If you’re home decor style features hygge, famhouse or modern decor this piece is right up your alley.  In the end, I love the way this project turned out mainly because it looks great and it was so easy!

What you’ll need:

  • Instant coffee
  • Hot water
  • A bowl
  • Two doweling (one larger then the other)
  • Cotton yarn (only use a natural finer when dying)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Accessories (like mini tassels) – optional

How to achieve Naturally Coffee Dying

First, cut and thread your yarn onto the short doweling.

Place some instant coffee into the bowl.  The darker you want the material to go, the more coffee you should add.  Add boiling water and stir with a spoon until fully dissolved.

Whatever your colour scheme or material list is, this DIY Coffee Station will be the highlight! A quick stop to the local dollar store and some altering of materials and you’ve got this stand made.  I was able to find two wooden painting boards of different sizes that were perfect when turned upside down and stained a dark cherry.  To get the height, I used two table signs.  They originally had a chalkboard sign on them, that easily came off to leave a perfect post for the tiers.  Then for the top layer, a metal basket, I love this touch as it incorporates a mixed media feel and really fits with the current style of decor.   This Easy DIY Coffee Bar Station Idea came together easily and affordably!  Let’s see how to make it.. Stain only the bottom of the board, leaving the sides to be painted white, if desired. Next I removed the chalkboards from the pillars, then sprayed them with a black chalkboard spray paint.  They needed multiple coats.  Allow them to dry between each coat.  One of the pillars needs to have another groove sawed into it, to hold the wire basket.  Be sure to do this BEFORE painting. The New Year is all about resolutions and fresh starts so this week we’re focusing on refreshing items to give them new life. Take this $1 garbage bin that was hanging around our bathroom. Its not the prettiest thing I’ve ever brought home so it’s time to give it a face lift. Since our master bath has a bit of a nautical theme, I decided on twine, navy and anchors. This entire project will take less than an hour to complete but you’ll be happy with results. Feel free to experiment with the theme and remember to share your results with us in the comments section! There are two designs here, mostly because I started one and then changed my mind about it. That’s okay though, half the fun of DIY is trail and error! What you’ll need: A cheap trash can Sisal rope Fabric Hot glue gun and sticks Stencil (optional) Paint (optional) Pouncer or makeup sponge (optional)   Use the hot glue to make a line down the can to attach the fabric. Continue around the whole can is covered. Attach the sisal rope around the bottom of the can, wrapping it around and around. Make sure you start and end on the same side of the can so the end bits are hidden in the back. Repeat the same thing at the top of the can. This would be the end of this design…except I didn’t love it. I liked it, but I didn’t love it. I didn’t think it would really work in the space. So, I kept going… And covered the patterned fabric up with some navy fabric. And then stencilled on an anchor. This was the version that I decided to use is our bathroom. I’m happy with how it looks, better than the colourful circles!
