Holiday Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Sticks
In our house Christmas doesn’t really get started until December 1st, this is mostly because my husband’s birthday is in late November and we like to celebrate that first. So, while I sneak in some Christmas carols and movies occasionally, the decorating and baking doesn’t start until December. So far my kids are okay with this plan…however, it’s likely due to the fact they are both under 3.5 years, we’ll see how long we can hold off with Christmas festivities as they get older. Now that December is almost over (insert sad face here) I am deciding to make one more festive treat. These Pretzel Sticks can be made for any occasion, which is why I saved them for last. They can be made in any colour with any candy.
All you need for this recipe are some large pretzel rods. I was able to find them easily in the grocery store, in same aisle as the pretzels and chips. Then some chocolate of your choice. I used some melting wafers, which I found in the bulk-baking store and I found them very easy to use. Regular chocolate chips would work as well. Here’s how to make these delicious, easy and cute Holiday Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Sticks
Holiday Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Sticks
Ingredients:
- about 24 large pretzel rods
- 8 oz white, red and green chocolate melting wafers
- assorted holiday sprinkles or edible decorations
Step 1.
Place the chocolate (one colour at a time) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute each. Remove and stir with a spatula. The wafers should melt a little more as you stir. If they are not fully melted, place them back in the microwave for another 15 seconds until melted. Repeat with each chocolate colour.
Step 2.
Dip one pretzel rod into the chocolate to coat. You can use a knife or spoon to spread the chocolate higher if needed. Let the excess chocolate drip off the end of the pretzel rod.
Step 3.
Place the chocolate covered pretzel rod over some wax paper (or plate) and shake your sprinkles or decoration all around. Add as much or as little as you’d like. Place the finished pretzel rod on wax paper and allow to dry completely, about 6 hrs.
