This project is also great for the kids, they may need help with the hot glue gun however, depending on their age.  This project doesn’t require a lot of materials in fact, you may already have them on hand.  You’ll need spray paint, a hot glue gun, a blank canvas and of course a puzzle.  The most time consuming part about this project is waiting for the paint to dry, beyond that it’s very simple and a lot of fun.  You can paint your puzzle pieces any colour you’d like, I prefer sparkle…so that had to be included!

To create this master-puzzle-piece (see what I did there?) you need to start by spraying your pieces with the spray paint.  Be sure to place your pieces picture side down, the spray paint will adhere better the cardboard side.  One or two coats is all that’s needed.  Spray according to the instructions on the can and be sure the paint has dried completely between coats. Take this time to spray your canvas.  You can have a white background of course, but a pop of colour is always nice.

Once your pieces and canvas are dry you can arrange them in the shape of a heart.  This is actually a little more challenging then you’d think! I recommend using a stencil or pre-cut heart to lightly trace the shape onto the canvas. To give the full effect, make sure you don’t put any of the “edge” pieces facing out, you want to have the classic puzzle piece shape to your design.  Use the glue gun to secure them once you’re happy with your heart design.

Once the glue is dry, your set!  You can hang your beautiful Valentine’s decoration on the wall by attaching a piece of ribbon on the back, or place it on a shelf, mantel or window sill. This puzzle piece Valentine’s heart is easy and is the perfect addition to any decor.  Looking for more?  How about our 15min Valentine’s Triptych or Brownie in a Bottle, a perfect gift idea!
