It’s time again for the Calgary Stampede – The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth! For those not familiar with this 10 day event, the Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo, festival and exhibition held every year in July. The event attracts over one million visitors and transforms the entire city into a western oasis. It’s a grand spectacle and if you ever get a chance to visit, you’re sure to have an amazing time! Whether or not you can make it to the Stampede this year, a bolo tie makes any cowboy or cowgirl costume complete. Perfect for Halloween, Rodeos or everyday dress up, these Button Bolo Ties are easy and fun to make, and make a great craft for any age.
What You’ll Need:
Leather or suede lacing, or other thick cord
Cut lengths of cord, you can make them longer and trim to fit smaller necks after they are made.
Sting the buttons onto the cord, starting from the back and through all of the holes. This will create the loop that will fit over the head and the button can slide up and down the cord to tighten the fit.
Mix and match colours!
Trim the cord to fit and then thread some pony beads onto the ends of the bolo tie. Tie a knot to keep the beads in place.
That’s it! Bring out the hat and boots, it’s rodeo time! Yahoo!!
